DAYNA LI

Actor

Dayna was first introduced to acting at age 4 when she appeared on "Blues Clues" and was considered for the role of Tam in "Miss Saigon" on Broadway. She later moved to Palo Alto, California, and was active in her local youth theaters and school shows in middle and high school, performing in productions such as "The Jungle Book," "The Wizard of Oz," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "A Christmas Carol," and "Quilters." She went to college at Princeton University, where she hoped to pursue acting further and attended the Powerhouse Theater Company/New York Stage and Film's summer Acting Apprentice program at Vassar College. At Princeton and Powerhouse, she got more acquainted with Shakespeare and plays from around that time period, performing in "Cymbeline" and "Doctor Faustus."

Despite her interest in acting, Dayna moved more towards studying filmmaking and human rights and international affairs, and she received a BA in comparative politics and minored in film. Her career goals transitioned to making social impact films, both narratives and documentaries, and she received a MFA in film directing from Chapman University. She has made 10+ narrative and documentary shorts, including a documentary about the decriminalization of prostitution debate in the US and another documentary about Conservation Clubs in Laikipia, Kenya. Her narrative short about a Syrian family deciding whether to leave their home amidst war was nominated for a Jury Award at Academy Award-Qualifying Austin Film Festival. Her films have been recognized by 60+ film festivals around the world.

Though Dayna developed a focus on filmmaking, she missed acting, and very much still felt pulled towards it. While living in New York after college, she took acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Institute and HB Studio. After relocating to Southern California, she completed the Sanford Meisner Center's 2-year Meisner training program. Along her journey since the beginning of college, she has garnered 20+ acting credits in short films, theater productions, and television shows. She hopes to continue to both act and direct. She recently joined RimoVision with the production of "Disconnected," playing Lola. She has found a wonderful and supportive creative community at RimoVision and is excited for what the future holds!
